The Reasons Behind the Ministry

I didn't wake up one day and decide to do hair. 

Hair has been a part of me as long as I can remember.

As a little girl, I was the one doing dolls' hair, watching the women around me, paying attention to every braid, every press, every style. I grew up around women who made people feel good about themselves even before social media made beauty a trend. Beauty was love where I come from. It was care. It was community. It was expression.

I honestly feel like doing hair CHOSE ME!

I was always the person that could watch somebody do something once and somehow figure it out on my own. What started with family and friends slowly turned into something deeper. People weren't just coming to me for hairstyles anymore. They were coming to vent, laugh cry, rebuild confidence, and feel like themselves again.

Mercedes Styles wasn't built overnight. It was built through pressure, faith, motherhood, mistakes, growth, slow seasons, rebuilding, education, and learning how to keep going even when life felt heavy. I became a licensed natural hair stylist in 2021 after graduating from Trenz Beauty Academy, and officially founded Mercedes Styles Hair Collection LLC that same year. but honestly, Mercedes Styles started long before paperwork and licenses. The vision was already living in me.

I'm a mother of three , a business owner, a creator, and a woman still growing through life in real time. A lot of people see the finished hairstyles, the pictures, the content, or the business... but they dont always see the woman behind it all. The late nights. The sacrifices. The body aches, The constant starting over but always keeping it going. The moments I questioned myself. The pressure of trying to build something meaningful while still healing and evolving as a person.

But one thing about me I KEEP CREATING. 

Doing hair gave me more than income. It gave me purpose.

Every Client that sits in my chair matters to me. I care about healthy hair. I care about the experience. I care about how pwople feel when they leave me. I want women, children and men to feel amazing, comfortable, confident, and cared for.

Mercedes Styles is more than braids or hairstyles to me. It's a reflection of resilience. Transformation. Faith. Creativity. And becoming the woman I was always meant to be.

i'm still growing, building, healing and becoming... 

And Honestly.... this is only the beginning.
